Sales of sandblasting PPE to grow by 150%

A market research report by Fact.MR forecasts that demand for PPE (personal protective equipment) for sandblasting will grow by one and a half times by 2029.

Sandblasting uses abrasive grit to clean surfaces. It is used in many industrial sectors including, construction, mining and the oil and gas industries. Demand for sandblasting is anticipated to grow during the next few years, especially in developing countries.

Workers using sandblasting equipment risk illness or injury from exposure to hazardous dust and particles. Employers have a legal obligation to provide PPE that prevents harm to workers. The two main PPE items that provide necessary protection are respiratory masks and hearing protectors. Workers also need to wear PPE gloves, suits, boots and face shields.

Sandblasting is a noisy procedure that can damage hearing unless ear defenders are worn. Specialist sandblasting PPE helmets with face shields and respirators attached provide added safety for workers.

A Fact.MR analyst said:

“Increasing demand for abrasive blasting for applications in the marine and construction sector is foreseen to boost the Sandblasting
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) market growth, over the course of the forecast duration.”

There is an increase in the worldwide number of construction projects that use sandblasting. A large number of ships are being repaired that require sandblasting.

The Fact.MR report reviews the type of PPE equipment used in sandblasting, the industrial sectors where it is used and analyses demand for sandblasting PPE in different world regions. For more details of the report, go to:
