Wirral council joins HSE campaign

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has announced that Wirral council has joined up to its new campaign to promote sensible risk management.

By signing up to the initiative, the local authority has agreed to adhere to ten principles designed to give businesses practical advice on health and safety issues.

Personal protective equipment may be touched upon in the principles, which call for companies to ensure workers are safe from any risks and urged them to manage problems responsibly.

Jim Wilkie, deputy chief executive for Wirral council, said: 'Sensible risk management is not about stopping events but ensuring that they take place as safely as possible.

'There should be nothing so urgent or important that we cannot take the time to do it safely.'

It was recently announced that the HSE is holding a safety event for those in Dorset's farming sector.

The evening training course is taking place at Kingston Maurward Agricultural College in Dorchester on February 19th.
