Which? reviews PPE, like safety gloves, offered by hire firms
The personal protective equipment, such as safety gloves, which is offered to consumers by certain hire firms has been reviewed by one organisation.
Which? recently assessed the safety credentials of the tools provided to people by a number of the country's hire businesses.
According to the body, many of the tools its researchers hired as part of their investigation were found to be faulty, while safety gear was not always on offer either.
Which? chief executive Peter Vicary-Smith believes that better standards of safety need to be met by those selling hire tools.
'They need to consistently check tools - if the shops we visited had carried out effective basic checks, they would never have loaned out half of the equipment,' he commented.
When it comes to safety issues, the Health and Safety Executive recently announced the launch of the new Estates Excellence scheme in the south-east of England.
