US donates PPE to Armenia government
The US government has donated thousands of dollars worth of personal protection equipment (PPE) to the Armenian government as part of its efforts to combat the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
As part of the US Department of Defense's International Counter-Proliferation Program, US officials have been conducting training courses to educate Armenian officials in Crime Scene Management relating to weapons of mass destruction.
Some 34 Armenian officials from a number of departments, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Armenian Rescue Service, National Security Service, the Police Department and the Customs Committee, participated in the course.
Having completed the course the US government has donated a variety of equipment to the Armenian government to enable it to counter the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
This donation, worth some $300,000, includes detection equipment to help locate weapons, PPE to allow authorities to physically deal with any weapons encountered, and decontamination equipment.
US ambassador to Armenia, John Evans said that no country is immune from natural or manmade disasters, and therefore must be prepared for unforeseen circumstances.
