UKs DIYers may require protective eyewear

Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required by people who are looking to have a go at some DIY work in the coming months, it has been noted.
Those who already make use of items like safety gloves may be interested to hear that the College of Optometrists feels that the eyes need to be focused on during DIY sessions.
According to the body, consumers should leave their safety goggles on at all times when performing home improvement work that requires such protection.
Meanwhile, the college also believes that eye PPE needs to meet decent standards.
'Generally the rule of thumb is that if there is a risk of any foreign bodies entering the eye, wearing protective eyewear is essential,' highlighted the college's optometric adviser Dr Susan Blakeney.
Those aiming to protect their eyes might also benefit from the launch of the new Gemstone Myst Flex Y19CFC reader-style spectacles product, which has been introduced to the market by Magid Glove and Safety.© Adfero Ltd
