UK firms encouraged to put safety standards to the test

Businesses are being given the chance to put their health and safety standards to the test by one organisation.
In a development that might interest those who are required to use protective gear such as safety gloves, firms may be able to find out if they could work towards the BS OHSAS 18001 standard, by taking part in a new Aviva Risk Management Solutions (ARMS) scheme.
ARMS has announced that it is to make free guidance concerning this standard available to businesses for a certain period of time.
The body's training and consultancy manager Kevin Chicken has noted the global significance of the BS OHSAS 18001 standard.
He commented that it 'is a simple and effective way for organisations to demonstrate their commitment to health and safety management'.
When it comes to safety issues, Aviva also recently highlighted the need for property owners to address any asbestos risks that may exist on a site they own.© Adfero Ltd
