UK PPE market experiences 13% growth

New research has found that the personal protective equipment (PPE) market in the UK has grown by over 13 per cent in the past five years.

The study by market research company MSI Reports analysed the development for the sector since 2003, while also segmenting its findings by product types such as head protection and other protective workwear.

It stated that an increasing awareness of legislation and concerns over health and safety had led to the growth.

The research also considered the future for the market and predicted that the positive development will continue in the next five years.

MSI's suggestion that awareness of legislation is a reason for the growth in the PPE has come after the Health and Safety Executive recently held a seminar in Carlisle to discuss safety issues with local construction firms.

The event at Carlisle United FC on Tuesday coincided with the body's campaign to hold safety spot checks at refurbishment sites across the UK.
