  3. SATRA makes new PPE appointment

Research and testing company SATRA has announced the appointment of two new members of staff to its safety product centre (SPC).

Daniel Cotter and Geoff Graham have been recruited in an attempt to expand the group's testing and certification of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Discussing his appointment, Mr Cotter said: 'I am proud to be part of such a distinguished team and organisation. I look forward to learning about the more diverse areas of PPE.'

Mr Graham also added: 'One of the things that appealed to me most about a transfer to SPC was being given the chance to expand my safety products knowledge and apply it to other areas such as fall arrest equipment.'

SATRA researches and tests equipment for items including footwear, homeware and automobiles, as well as materials for the construction industry.

The company's PPE safety testing operation includes tests on chemical clothing, helmets, heat protection and public order clothing.

Earlier this year, shadow secretary of trade, industry and energy Alan Duncan officially opened the business's new footwear and leather testing laboratory in Kettering.
