Research before you DIY, expert warns
A leading DIY expert has recommended that before any undertaking any work, you should always do your research into products, tools and techniques
With the credit crunch continuing into the New Year, a number of householders are making improvements to their property with DIY projects as opposed to hiring out professionals.
By carrying out work under your own steam, it could save you a great deal of money. However, making sure you carry out processes correctly, or use power tools in a responsible manner, could be essential to avoid any costly errors.
DIY expert Paul Minderides said that botched DIY jobs can cause damage of £160 and upwards, with the cost of rectifying some mistakes reaching up to £300. These additional costs may often defeat the point of carrying out DIY work yourself, with spiralling costs becoming a real problem.
Conducting proper research before taking on a project is therefore a must in order to avoid damage to a property or risk of injury.
