Protective workwear is important within construction
Although the construction industry has experienced reductions in the amount of injuries suffered by workers, it is still responsible for 22 per cent of fatal employee accidents and ten per cent of major reported injuries. This is why it is important to ensure that you have access to the correct protective workwear.
Employers must ensure that they provide their workers with the right protective workwear for the job. However, self-employed workers within the construction industry must ensure that their protective workwear is suitable for the tasks they are performing.
According to the Health and Safety Executive, 23 of the 49 yearly worker fatalities within the construction industry are self-employed workers. Protective workwear not only helps in the avoidance of injuries, but can also save lives.
Ensuring that fully stocked first aid kits are available is also very important as this allows any injuries to be addressed quickly. Again, these should be provided by employees and self-employed workers should make sure they are taken on every job.
