Protective gloves essential for outdoor workers
It is vital that workers who usually operate outdoors and handle chainsaws and other machinery wear protective gloves, one source has stated.
Sally Drury, writing for Horticulture Week, said that many people whose jobs involve working with dangerous machinery often forget to wear protective equipment such as safety gloves, but doing so may be putting them at risk of injury.
She noted that gardeners in particular should need to take steps to protect themselves, as there are often hidden hazards which can pose a threat to their wellbeing.
'Whether running chainsaws and woodchippers, dispatching plants from a nursery, undertaking grounds maintenance duties or carrying out research in a laboratory, there will be hazards,' Ms Drury added.
Meanwhile, a construction event staged by the Health and Safety Executive in the Borders later this month will highlight the benefits of protective gloves and other protective equipment, showing how simple measures can potentially save lives.
