Prestigious award for North Star Shipping
Posted on 10 December 2015

North Star Shipping has been recognised for its excellent performance in health and safety.
The British Safety Council has awarded the Sword of Honour, the highest accolade that may be received, to the company.
The Sword of Honour has been awarded to just two organisations in the Northeast of Scotland, including North Star Shipping, and only 61 in the world. To be awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour, an organisation has to demonstrate excellence in health and safety standards, achieving five stars in the audit scheme for the management of health and safety by the British Safety Council. This has to be achieved during the period between August 2014 and July 2015. A panel of experts also has to see the excellent management of health and safety, in all areas of a business, from the boardroom to the shop floor.
North Star Shipping is part of the Craig Group, an energy services and global shipping company owned by a family. The managing director and chairman of the Craig Group, Douglas Craig, expressed his delight at securing such a prestigious award, offering his congratulations and thanks to all members of the organisation who made it possible. He added that the Craig Group is committed to providing a safe working culture for all, including clients and colleagues.
All employers have a duty of care to their workforce, which often involves the provision of workwear and PPE to protect from hazardous substances and other dangers in the workplace.
