Personal protective equipment like safety boots is essential
Companies looking to avoid workplace injuries have been told that the use of personal protective equipment like safety boots is paramount.
In an article for New Jersey Today, safety expert Jeffrey Quinn of AlliedBarton Security Services said that managers should always have policies and procedures in place for such equipment.
Protective gloves, safety boots and eye protection should all be considered in hazardous environments, he commented, while employees should be given training and practice to help them use the equipment properly.
'Keep all of the materials stored on the job site in a neat and orderly manner,' added Mr Quinn in the article.
'Clean debris and trash as work progresses. If you are not using tools and equipment at the time, do not leave them lying around.'
The Health and Safety Executive offers a number of publications designed to help managers to make the right choice when selecting personal protective equipment.
