Personal protective equipment important for outdoor workers
It is important that people who work outdoors remember the importance of using personal protective equipment, one expert has advised.
Writing for the Zanesville Times Recorder, Mark Mechling, an extension educator and agriculture and natural resources expert, said that farmers or people who work in fields should always put safety first.
This includes wearing the appropriate safety gloves, boots and headgear when operating machinery, he noted.
"Getting in a hurry often can lead to accidents. Remind yourself and family members that rushing leads to inaccuracies, mishaps, shortcuts and short tempers," the expert stated.
He noted that safety guards should always be used whenever people are operating machinery, while they also need to keep an eye out for their fellow workers and members of the public.
Recently, nine-time Stihl Timbersports champion Jason Wynyard, the face of Stihl Chainsaw Safety Awareness Week, told stuff.co.nz that it is particularly important for those planning on using chainsaws to complete work in the garden to use safety gloves, safety boots and other protective equipment.
