PPE test will cause waves
The test of the efficacy of surgical masks in preventing the transmission of influenza will have an impact in the market, one expert has claimed.
As reported last week, young adults based at the University of Michigan campus are wearing the personal protective equipment (PPE) as they conduct their daily activities, the Associated Press reported.
William Schaffner, chairman of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Vanderbilt University, said that this study would 'be widely discussed, no matter the outcome'.
'We know the clock is ticking, we just don’t know when the alarm will go off,' he said of the disease.
The recent outbreak of the deadly H5N1 strain of avian flu in the UK prompted the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to provide PPE to some individuals in the vicinity.
