PPE like safety boots should be chosen carefullyPosted on 05/02/2010
Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety boots should be carefully selected by organisations that have to respond to emergencies, it has been suggested.
According to Greg Friese, writing in an article for EMS1.com, it is important that such equipment does not pose an obstacle to people's work.
He has also noted that regulations may have an impact on the PPE that organisations opt for.
In his EMS1.com piece, Mr Friese has written: 'Select PPE that is easy to put on, meets applicable requirements, provides maximum comfort and does not impair field personnel's ability to perform duties.'
Meanwhile, the commentator has additionally noted the importance of PPE, by highlighting its abilities to deal with things like chemicals and certain pathogens.
In the UK, users of safety boots may be keen to heed the advice of the Health and Safety Executive, with the body currently raising awareness of the dangers posed by slipping, falling and tripping in the workplace.
