New tilt sensor product launched
A new tilt measurement sensor has been launched by Penny + Giles which can not only detect titling on cranes and platforms used in the construction industry and elsewhere, but is also resistant to shock and vibration, the company states.
The STT280 can be used in the construction industry as well as off-road and access platforms, Engineer Live! states.
In addition, the product, which is 28 mm in diameter, runs on low amounts of power, needing just a 6.5ma battery, while it also has an IP68 standard seal to enable it to operate in rough and dirty surroundings.
The shock and vibration resistance is said to come from the fact that the device has no moving parts.
Use of machinery in construction and other fields can lead to vibration-related conditions.
A common condition is white finger, which can lead to thickening of artery walls and damage to the nerves in fingers, accidentcompensation.com reports.
