More protective gloves may be needed as minister unveils self-build plan
More individuals will need protective gloves and other personal protective equipment (PPE) if a new plan launched by housing minister Grant Shapps bears fruit.
Mr Shapps launched a new action plan at a meeting with the National Self Build Association, aimed at transforming this form of construction from a minority activity into a means of mass-producing homes.
Among the 15 points in the blueprint are making more land available for self-build, reductions in planning regulation and more information from the self-build industry itself on how to go about the task.
Mr Shapps said there is "significant opportunity for growth in the sector which can only be opened up if Government and industry work together".
People wishing to build their own homes may need to invest in PPE products to ensure they are safe when working on them.
Chief executive of BuildStore Financial Services noted earlier this week that self-building is cheaper than many people imagine it to be.
