More details released about health and safety expo

New details have been released about the content of the 2007 Health and Safety Expo, which will cover a variety of issues that concern the construction industry, including those involving personal protection equipment.

The event, held at the NEC in Birmingham from May 22nd to 24th will include a demonstration of the dangers of working near flammable materials, Industrial Safety Talk reports.

Included in this will be a demonstration of the ability of test garments to withstand heat and fire as a mannequin dressed in the clothes is subjected to temperatures of up to 1,000 degrees C.

There will also be a wide variety of information made available about current health and safety issues, including the requirements of new legislation and guidelines.

New guidelines about the responsibilities of company directors and boards for health and safety have been published this week.

The information was produced by the Institute of Directors at the behest of the Health and Safety Comission, Norwich Union reported.
