Long-term benefits of workplace safety must not be forgotten, PPE users hear

Organisations have been encouraged to maintain their focus on good workplace health and safety.

Those looking to make greater use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety boots may be interested to note the views expressed by Jukka Takala, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work's (EU-OSHA) director.

He commented: 'Spending on workplace health and safety should be seen as an investment and not a cost.'

When it comes to these issues, employers should not get rid of 'long-term benefits for short-term gains', the expert went on to say.

Meanwhile, the EU-OSHA released its 2009 Annual Report, which has looked at the impact that economic factors may have had on health and safety in recent times.

In the UK, it was recently announced by the Health and Safety Executive that the likes of builders in the Cockermouth area are to be offered safety guidance at an event on June 30th.
