HSE supports construction safety events
Two major construction safety events have taken place in Wales to highlight the potential dangers of working in the industry.
Held in Powys by the Working Well Together group, the events in Powys, which touched upon the dangers of asbestos, were also backed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The seminars, which also covered issues related to personal protective equipment, were praised by the chief executive of the local county council, Mark Kerr.
He said: 'Events like these are crucial for construction businesses in Powys and across Wales.
'Clearly a comparatively small investment in assessing and managing risks can pay dividends in terms of delivering projects on time and averting possible enforcement action.'
An inspector for the HSE, Christina Goddard, recently claimed that dangers linked to working at height are 'largely preventable'.
She made the comment after a Wirral company was fined for an incident in which a worker fell from a roof and was seriously injured.
