HSE encourages safety measures like protective gloves

UK watchdog the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is to reinforce the importance of safety measures and equipment on construction sites by recruiting 30 more experienced inspectors.
The body, which currently employs around 138 people nationwide, is seeking to ensure that building sites comply with its health and safety rules.
In addition to recruiting experienced staff, the HSE hopes to attract 20 trainee inspectors to start later this month.
The new inspectors will be given the responsibility of advising on and inspecting the safety capabilities of sites, while laying down formal enforcement where necessary.
Inspectors will also ensure that site workers are making correct use of safety equipment such as protective gloves.
The HSE recently warned the site managers of 18 construction sites in Cambridge to improve their attention to safety precautions after a number of rule breaches were discovered.© Adfero Ltd
