  3. Growth expected for Nordic PPE sales

UK makers of personal protective equipment (PPE) should look north to fuel their ambitions of growth, revenue rises and increased profits, according to recent data.

A new market report has stated that PPE awareness and sales growth is set to climb considerably in coming years. The latest Research and Markets report, titled ‘PPE Market in the Nordic Region 2014-2018’, has suggested that in the next five years, the market will grow by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.39% in the period.

A vital tool for workers in the construction, manufacturing and energy sector, PPE products offer protection in many environments, saving lives and reducing injuries. Segmented into key areas to offer the best protection to employees, PPE includes overall protective clothing, hand protection, breathing apparatus, fall reduction devices, skin-shielding equipment, eye and ear-defending gear, and many others.

Covering Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark, the report asserts that one of the key trends emerging in the Nordic market is the increasing need to meet changing PPE regulations on construction sites. Increasingly, stringent demands are seeing a greater need for PPE as the safety landscape changes.

There has been an increase in the number of industrial activities across the region too, further forcing the need for greater access to safety workwear.

These changes in the market, along with a growing awareness of how safety demands can be met, will see opportunities for suppliers of PPE open up considerably through the years.

The report was put together in consultation with a number of stakeholders across Nordic industry, using objective combinations of both primary and secondary data sets.
