Forestry event may benefit safety gloves users

Forestry sector workers who regularly make use of personal protective equipment likes safety gloves may benefit from the launch of a forthcoming health and safety event.

The event, which is being run by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in collaboration with the Forestry Commission Learning and Development organisation, will see things like hand-arm vibration discussed.

Jason Liggins, an inspector with the HSE, believes that there are commonsense steps that people can take to address the potential dangers posed by forestry-related work.

'We want to work in partnership with the forestry industry to make sure all reasonable precautions are put in place to prevent accidents,' he commented.

Aberdeenshire's Bin Forest will play host to the March event.

Meanwhile, the HSE is also continuing in its aim to promote the importance of staying safe among those working on the country's farms.

An event was recently staged in Penrith by the organisation to highlight this issue.
