Firefighters get new safety gloves
Firefighters in Herefordshire and Worcestershire have been provided with new personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety gloves, in a bid to help them do their job better.
The equipment is designed to protect against tough firefighting conditions and has been developed to factor in how the body works.
It also accounts for the unpredictable changes of environment, which those in the fire service can face.
'I am delighted we are able to provide our firefighters with this clothing. It offers the best in terms of safety protection, whilst offering the best value for money,' councillor Brigadier Peter Jones CBE, chair of Hereford and Worcester Fire Authority.
Chief fire officer Mark Yates said the new PPEmeans that firefighters will be able to work safety and effectively while on the front line.
Earlier this month, Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service pledged to support the Safer Roads Partnership which is operating in the West Mercia area.
