Eye protection important in creating safety culture, PPE firm suggests

The importance of protecting people's eyes in workplaces has been highlighted by one personal protective equipment (PPE) company.
Employers keen to make use of PPE such as goggles and safety gloves might be interested to note the findings of a survey from Sperian Protection.
By initially focusing on eye safety issues, as many as two thirds of those North American safety directors polled by the organisation feel that a better safety culture might develop.
The firm's David Iannelli suggests that raising awareness of the need for good eye protection can help safety campaigns in a number of ways.
Mr Iannelli, senior product manager for its Uvex brand, commented: 'Eye protection is an easy thing for safety managers and peers alike to see in action - everyone can tell who is being accountable for his or her own safety.'
Meanwhile, some UK building companies might be looking to improve their own safety standards after a number of construction companies were recently given enforcement notices by the country's Health and Safety Executive.© Adfero Ltd
