Complying with health and safety law is not difficult

Complying with health and safety regulations does not have to mean making big changes to how a company operates.
Phil Johnson, director at Construction Safety, explained that construction companies may be surprised by how simple it is to comply with the official rules and regulations.
Having the right protective workwear and eye protection could be all that is needed to make sure a company works to the required standards.
"The Health and Safety at Work etc Act came out in 1974 and is just so straightforward it's unbelievable. Complying with that is good enough, and the regulations from thereon," Mr Johnson said.
He highlighted how section four of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations provides all the information on how to manage a construction site, adding that sticking to the rules is not "rocket science".
Health and Safety Executive inspector John Claxton recently stated that the organisation has been disturbed by the lax safety measures in some companies, despite the low cost of having proper equipment installed. © Adfero Ltd
