Companies 'need clear advice on protective boots and other safety issues'

Businesses across the country need clear guidelines when it comes to health and safety issues, it has been suggested, which may include the need to supply protective boots and other safety equipment.

According to Neal Stone, director of policy and research at the British Safety Council, health and safety law can sometimes to be quiet burdensome, which is why companies need clear advice on it.

By imparting 'expert, simple and proportionate advice, particularly for small businesses, when it comes to complying with health and safety law, it will help get rid of the perception that it is just a burden weighing business down,' the expert went on to say.

His comments follow a health and safety reminder from the Union of Construction, Allied Trades and Technicians (UCATT).

It said that agencies need to supply workers with adequate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as protective gloves and safety boots, in order to comply with regulations established in 1992.
