Building firm donates PPE to probation scheme
A building firm based in Lancashire has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools to a new council scheme in the region.
The Lancashire Telegraph reported that construction business Travis Perkins, which is based in Darwen, contributed the equipment to a probation project that involves six low risk offenders cleaning footpaths and landscape in the town.
The initiative was organised by Lancashire's probation service and the area's borough council.
Speaking to the newspaper about the scheme, Travis Perkins spokesman James Brennan said: 'Travis Perkins is pleased to support this important project that will be of benefit to our staff, our customers and the general public.
'The donation of personal protective equipment and tools will ensure that the work is carried out safely and effectively by the team, with the overall result of making the area better for the local community.'
The firm's donation has come a week after construction businesses in the south Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside were invited to a Health and Safety Executive event to promote safety awareness in the industry.
