3M launches new PPE respirator

Personal protective equipment (PPE) manufacturer 3M has launched what it calls its most advanced respirator ever.
Said to be the most versatile solution possible, the new 3M™ Versaflo™ Powered Air Purifying Respirator TR-600 has been designed for extended and heavy use.
This means, according to 3M, that the respirator is able to offer wearers comfort and ease of use, as well as allowing for longer working periods. It has also been designed to be compatible with a wide range of headgear.
Ergonomically designed, the respirator fits close to the body. This allows for greater mobility for the worker and, with its lightweight qualities, is particularly well suited to working in tight spaces as a result.
The TR-600 also offers wearers a number of airflow rate options, which can be set for their own comfort, as well as a flexible belt design. Flexible air channels also ensure that heat build-up is kept to a minimum.
The unit has also been designed to be more intuitive for workers to use, and offers a maintenance-free solution to continued working. Battery powered by powerful lithium-ion batteries, the unit can perform for up to eight hours depending on the option selected.
Three alarms – audible, vibratory and visual – ensure workers are informed of filter and battery status of the respirator.
There are a host of applications for which the TR-600 respirator is able to be used, according to its manufacturer. Designed for manufacturing, the respirator can also be used for casting, demolition, grinding and metal finishing.
