  3. New report explores health and safety challenges

A report titled "Under the Surface of Health and Safety" is based on a survey that asked workers about the priorities and challenges for health and safety.

The survey involved over 700 UK workers in health and safety roles across various industries. It found that most organizations are happy with their health and safety capabilities, including sourcing the correct PPE (personal protective equipment). However, 27% of respondents from construction and 31% from manufacturing have difficulties sourcing trustworthy products. Choosing the correct PPE supplier is critical to creating a safe work environment.

Although health and safety workers are aware of environmental issues, only 23% of respondents said that renewable considerations are among their top five reasons for selecting PPE.

There are widespread concerns about how pressures to increase productivity impact safety. About two-thirds of respondents see training as a vital way to increase employee health and safety compliance.

Most workers responsible for health and safety are men, with three-quarters of the 700 surveyed being male, and 37% over the age of 54. The report notes that this highlights the need to recruit more female and younger individuals for health and safety roles.

Organizations also struggle to keep up to date with new PPE technology and products.

To create a safe working environment, it's important to find a reliable PPE supplier who has health and safety knowledge, expertise, and a wide range of products. A good supplier recommends the best safety products at a good price.
