Power tools taken from Isle of Wight barn
12/07/2011
The theft of power tools from a barn has been reported by the Isle of Wight police.According to officers, equipment was stolen from the property on Atherfield Road in the Chale area in June.
The Isle of Wight County Press reports people are being warned the items concerned, which included a Bosch circular saw, a Makita lithium screwdriver and two Dewalt drill sets, could be presented for sale.
PC Dave Hardie, who is investigating the incident, urged individuals who may have been offered power tools second-hand or have information relating to people attempting to sell them to contact Newport Police Station on the island.
The incident on the farm site also involved two drills by Makita and an electric jigsaw being stolen, as well as accessories such as a box of 3,000 screws, a Stanley hammer and a spirit level.
A new report from insurer Aviva has highlighted the importance of safeguarding power tools during the summer months, when lax levels of security appear to be linked to a rise in thefts from homes in July and August.
