Trelleborg acquires Lithuanian PPE manufacturer
Trelleborg has announced the acquisition of the personal protective equipment (PPE) division of Lithuanian company Svytis for an undisclosed sum.
Since 2003 UAB Trella, the PPE operations of Svytis, has manufactured and sewn PPE and protective suits for Trelleborg Protective Products.
Trelleborg Protective Products, formerly UAB Trella's larger rival, develops dry diving suits under the Viking brand and chemical protective suits under the Trellchem(R) brand.
Lennart Johansson, BA president Trelleborg Engineered Systems, said: "We view this as an aggressive move that enables continued profitable growth within the field of protective products.
"We have enjoyed truly fruitful cooperation with Svytis during the past few years, and have been impressed by its high quality and delivery precision. Protective products and other products for extreme environments require highly specific know-how.
"As a result of this acquisition, we are solidifying our competitiveness and move forward our positions for organic growth."
The acquisition of UAB Trella is expected to be completed on July 31st, 2006.
