Testing body set to expand on PPE and safety boots certification
A major quality and safety testing body is to extend its personal protective equipment (PPE) certification capabilities in the UK.
Intertek, which already offers certification of products such as safety boots and protective gloves, will now use its Leicester laboratory to offer certification of consumer goods such as high visibility clothing, flame retardant clothing and anti-static gear.
It is hoped the new measures will complement the company's certification capabilities in the US, China and Taiwan.
PPE technical support specialist Joyce Moore believes the new measures should help Intertek to improve its services.
She said: 'This extended scope allows Intertek to provide enhanced and comprehensive services to our PPE clients by offering clothing certification including high visibility on site.'
Intertek currently operates through a network of over 1,000 laboratories globally, using the expertise of 24,000 people.
It aims to help PPE firms and other organisations to develop the quality and safety of the products they offer to consumers.
