Selecting PPE like safety gloves could prove daunting

Some employers may be daunted by the prospect of choosing personal protective equipment (PPE) for their staff as part of a risk assessment process, it has been suggested.

In a development that may interest users of PPE like safety boots, the technology firm 3M believes it is important that organisations are not put off by the processes involved in risk assessment.

The company recently gave its backing to the European Week for Safety and Health at Work and is now running two new strategies which will focus on PPE offering eye and hearing protection.

It is hoped that the schemes will ensure people select the best available 3M PPE to help meet their safety requirements.

In the UK, the Health and Safety Executive ensures workplaces meet high standards of safety to protect employees from risks that could harm them.
