Safety gloves may be needed as end of summer good time for roof work

Safety gloves may be used frequently by construction and maintenance workers if one tip on the timing of roof repair work is heeded.

Bracknell Roofing said this time of year is a good one to have any necessary work carried out, director of its Southampton branch Shane White said.

Many people do nothing about any roofing problems until the colder and wetter weather start to have an impact, he noted.

"The main problem with waiting until autumn or winter to strip and retile the roof is that the wind, rain and even snow can make it a much longer and more complicated job," he noted, saying this can make the whole undertaking more expensive for the property owner.

Editor at Homebuilding & Renovating magazine Jason Orme recently predicted a rise in home renovations, often from people needing to extend their homes as it has been harder to move due to the state of the housing market.
