Plant equipment guide may complement safety gloves usage
A new online guide has been launched to help employers and their workers inspect plant equipment correctly, which could help those who already follow good safety practices such as the wearing of safety gloves.
Produced by Allianz Engineering, the free guide aims to help brokers and their clients protect against the threat of expensive insurance claims by checking machinery conforms to regulatory requirements.
Phil Wright, chief engineer at the firm, believes regular inspection of workplace equipment is essential to maintain good safety standards.
He added: 'The consequences of plant failure can include damage to other items of plant and buildings, accidents in the workplace and, in extreme cases, loss of life all of which could result in claims costing millions of pounds.'
The guide includes descriptions of machinery relating to a number of different UK industries, allowing brokers to work with their clients and avoid potential risks.
In related safety news, 3M recently launched a new respirator personal protective equipment product to improve the breathing of workers operating machinery in dusty environments.
