People should use protective gloves when assessing home damage

Protective gloves are among the items people might want to make use of when assessing any property damage that has been caused by a natural disaster, a firm believes.

According to CSA International, certified safety gear should be adopted by those returning to their houses after an event like a flash flood or major storm.

While ensuring that their hands are protected with gloves, the company also suggests that items such as protective masks and safe footwear could be donned by those entering properties which may have sustained damage.

The firm recommended: 'Return home only when advised by local authorities, obey all emergency personnel instructions, and be prepared with safety apparel and equipment that is certified by an accredited certification organisation.'

Meanwhile, new personal protective equipment is also being adopted by various Wales-based fire crews, with members of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service among those who may be in line to benefit.
