  3. PPE hire company sells hoists division

One of the UK's leading providers of personal protective equipment (PPE) hire in the construction industry has sold its hoists division.

Hewden Stuart stated that it decided to sell the business to HTC Plant in an effort to build on its success in areas including heavy duty plant and construction equipment provision.

Under the new deal, 75 hoists employees working at three sites in the UK will be transferred to the buyer upon completion of the deal at the end of January.

Commenting on the sale, Hewden Stuart director Brian Sherlock said: 'Hoists was an obvious selling opportunity for us, given that it is a highly successful, specialised and stand-alone area of business but not part of the core Hewden service offering and is only available in three of our UK depots.

'The transfer to HTC is a good outcome for our hoists employees, with all staff able to transfer over.'

Hewden is one of the UK's biggest providers of PPE to the construction industry, offering a range of protective workwear including head protection, safety boots and respiratory protection.
