  3. PPE hire company invests in equipment

One of the UK's largest construction equipment hire companies has announced that it has invested in a new range of telehandlers.

Hewden, which also offers a range of personal protective equipment for hire, has introduced 283 of the new TH Series CAT machines to its fleet, taking its total number of the vehicles to 2,600.

The company's general manager of product and pricing, Alan Huddart, stated that the move showed Hewden's intention to extend its plant hire business in the UK.

'We want to make the biggest, youngest, and most reliable fleet of machines available to our customers,' he added.

Hewden's investment in the telehandlers has come after it recently sold its hoists business to HTC Plant.

The company's director, Brian Sherlock, stated that the sale was part of its efforts to focus on improving its status as a national provider of heavy duty plant and construction equipment.

It is thought that the sale of the business will be completed at the end of this month.
