Hampshire firms set for new safety scheme

A new safety scheme is set to be introduced to the Hampshire region later this month, with bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) behind the campaign.

Users of personal protective equipment like safety gloves might be keen to note that the Estates Excellence project will particularly apply to firms based on industrial estates in the area.

Free guidance will be offered as part of the initiative regarding health and safety issues, with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service among the other organisations that are getting involved.

Head of operations for the south-east at the HSE, Mike Willcock, commented that tailored advice could be offered thanks to the new scheme.

He stated: 'Estates Excellence will address all the commonly asked questions about areas of health and safety, but also tailor support to each individual business and its needs.'

Towards the end of last month, the HSE also announced that between April 1st of last year and March 31st of 2010, 151 people died in the UK due to work-related incidents.
