HSE announces construction safety event

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has unveiled plans to hold an event on construction safety in Renfrewshire.

Set to take place this Wednesday (February 11th) in Paisley, the awareness day will highlight ways for both businesses and contractors in the sector to prevent accidents and fatalities.

Personal protective equipment may be touched upon at the event, which will include advice on working at height, occupational health, risk management and transport.

Gerard McCulloch, construction inspector for the HSE, said: 'With the recent introduction of new penalties for failure to comply with health and safety legislation, company bosses who care about the health and safety of their employees cannot afford to miss events like this.'

The organisation recently joined forces with Wirral council to promote sensible risk management in the area.

Under the new initiative, companies in the region will be urged to ensure workers are safe from any risks and manage problems responsibly.
