Construction safety seminar to be held
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has announced plans to hold two safety seminars for small construction businesses in the Cumbria area.
Set to be held at Carlisle United FC, the events are part of a new programme devised by the body to promote awareness of a number of important safety issues to firms in the sector.
The events on February 26th are set to include discussion and presentations on a variety of issues, as well as advice on working at height which suggests that the importance of personal protective equipment may be touched upon.
Commenting on the seminars, HSE construction inspector Dave Charnock said the events were 'a must' for small firms.
He added: 'They will focus specifically on construction as one of the worst industries for incidents in the UK and look at common ill-health problems.'
The HSE recently warned companies to ensure they use the right equipment, including protective workwear, on construction sites after work on five refurbishment sites in Newcastle was stopped for safety reasons.
