  3. Construction Centre gives support to new HSE guide

The Construction Centre has given its backing to a new guide which encourages directors to become more responsible on health and safety issues.

Created by the Institute of Directors (IoD) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the Leading Health and Safety at Work report has been created to help directors draw up practical guidelines on issues including protective workwear.

Discussing the new report, Construction Centre managing director Richard Simmons drew on his personal experiences in the construction industry and the importance of respiratory equipment in certain areas of the trade.

He said: 'If I walked around our sites and saw, for example, somebody cutting a paving slab with no dust mask I would ask the worker how important his lungs were to him.

'This document will go some way to reinforce the issue that health and safety is a responsibility for everyone to adopt; from the board to the workforce to the contractor.'

An online directory services provider, the Construction Centre lists contact details for manufacturers and suppliers of all kinds of materials in the building trade.
