A leading UK building firm has announced it is hoping to achieve a major safety target in the near future.

Rok has revealed that it has introduced a number of initiatives that it hopes will help to earn the British Safety Council's Audit 5 star status.

The Evening Gazette reports that the company, which has offices across the north of England, has specifically created programmes to promote the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) across its organistion.

Mitchell Smith, the company's regional leader for the north-east, said: 'Health and safety is of primary importance to Rok and always has been, so we are constantly looking for ways to improve our procedures.

'We have made strong inroads into improving health and safety, but there is always more that you can do.'

Earlier this week, PPE manufacturer Uvex launched a new range of eye protection products.

According to Manufacturingtalk, the company's Winner Specs are designed to be both aesthetically pleasing and tough.
