Appropriate PPE needed for bank holiday DIY

People thinking about undertaking DIY projects over the coming bank holiday weekend have been encouraged to ensure that they make use of personal protective equipment (PPE) if it is required.

M&S money believes that equipment such as safety goggles could come in useful if homeowners are planning certain jobs.

Meanwhile, those considering investing in a good pair of safety boots might also be interested to note that the firm feels that hard-wearing shoes may be needed.

Professionals may have to be hired for more complex home improvement tasks, the head of general insurance at M&S, Andrew Ferguson, has suggested.

He commented: 'We would urge people to check their home insurance policy covers them for accidental damage and whether there is a limit to this cover.'

Towards the start of April, Santander also pointed out the large financial consequences that people may have to deal with if they make DIY errors.
